As President of the Benjamin Banneker Association (BBA), Monique Harrison, Ed.S. is leading one of the nation’s premier nonprofit organizations dedicated to advancing equity and excellence in mathematics education for Black children. Founded in 1986, the Benjamin Banneker Association is an equity affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and is committed to ensuring that all students have access to high-quality mathematics instruction through advocacy, research, professional development, leadership, and community engagement.

With more than three decades of experience in education, Harrison has established herself as a respected educational leader, consultant, speaker, and advocate for student achievement. Throughout her career, she has worked to strengthen educational systems, support educators, and promote equitable learning opportunities that empower students to reach their fullest potential 

Under Harrison’s leadership, the Benjamin Banneker Association continues to expand its national presence through innovative programming, strategic partnerships, educator support, and initiatives designed to increase access to high-quality mathematics education for Black children and historically underserved communities. The Association remains committed to inspiring excellence while developing future generations of mathematicians, educators, researchers, and leaders. 

As BBA continues to grow its national impact, Harrison remains focused on fostering collaboration among educators, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders to help eliminate educational disparities and create meaningful opportunities for students across the country.
